Happy Independence Day

Published by saramaxine at 1:18 am under Daily Life Edit This

This is my first blog, ever.  Yeah!  We, that is my husband Gary, and I, Sara, just put our 21 month old son, Alex to bed.  He must be really, really tired because he’s already asleep.  There are fireworks going off like crazy around our house!  Loud, noisy, wonderfully colorful illegal fireworks blasting off through out the nights sky.  The smoke is heavily laden outside and drifting in filling my nostrils with the scent that reminds me of my childhood.

I had really hoped that Alexander would stay up and enjoy the caos.  However, he sadly was terrified of the one fountian we lit for him.  So, we’ll save our pittily legal fireworks for his second birthday in September and hope that he will be excited then.  I had dreamed that we would go to Fort Vancouver for the celebration this year.  That’s what I thought last year, you know, when he was just little and we envisioned our perfect baby being a perfectly behaved toddler who stays at our side…  Hah!  Not a chance would we bring him into a crowd of crazy people for him to run off and find every bit of trouble he could.  Yes our Alexander the Great Giant is also Alexander the Menace!  And such a loved and precious menace he is!

I will sign off now to curl up on the couch with my husband and watch the Vancouver fireworks display on HiDef.  (Closest we’re going to get to the real thing.)
